baritone Stéphane Degout presents at the Opéra de Lausanne a program that blends melodies and Lieder with exhilaration.
Having affection for french melodies and german Lied, Stéphane Degout worked under the direction of Ruben Lifschitz, and is known for the finesse and sensitivity of his performances during his international tours. Accompanied by the world-renowned pianist Simon Lepper, he imagines a journey with Fauré’s melodies and Brahms’s Lieder. These pieces, composed between 1870 and 1880, meets the magnificent cycle of Lieder, opus 35, by Robert Schumann, of the poems by Justinus Kerner. Conceived in 1840, Schumann triumphant to the resistances of his father, finally marries Clara Wieck and the cycle reveals the blissfulness of the composer.
